The FAA, NTSB, child passenger safety technicians all recommend that children have their own seat on the plane and be properly restrained in a child restraint until the plane belt fits them properly (usually sometime after 40 lbs). It's for good reason; not because the airlines want more $$ but because we think that all passengers should be safe."
